Metamorfoser is a performance piece for four singers and live electronics. The piece is composed by Anna Einarsson with text by Jörgen Dahlqvist from Teatr Weimar and is a variation on Ovid's Metamorphoses, where we meet the singers in various stages of transformation. The four roles of P, S, G, and N is the four archetypes that either themselves changed themselves, or by other's gaze forced to make a change. The lyrics are based on Pistorius, Snowden, Lady Gaga, and Norma Jean Baker (Marilyn Monroe), where the metamorphosis is from acclaimed athlete into killer and / or simultaneously from human to human / machine, from the Patriots to the traitors, from woman to man. At the same the entire work is based on a methamorphorical movement following the creation of a butterfly where man by pupating turns into something else which can then move freely through the air.
Metamorphosis is also a study of relationships that occur between materials, based on movements of bodies in spaces.
The work is part of Anna Einarsson's PhD studies at the Royal College of Music, which deals with the relationship between voice and interactive live electronics and the experience of this for both audience and performers.
